What is the point of a Blog?

After much blogging, I'm beginning to wonder what the point of a blog actually is. Yes, I've read the blurb on blogger to explain WHAT a blog is, what's the POINT of it? My blog's pointless right now cos I'm not in the Far East yet - though now it's only 8 months till I go! Yey!

Why was the first blog invented? Oh, and when?

(Japanese for "why" is naze [na-zay])

(And have you heard the JCB song? How random is it? "I'm Luke, I'm 5 and my dad's Bruce Lee. He drives me round in his JCB...")

It's a conspiracy to turn us all into wanabe journalists. I think Christina must have started it all...

Seeing as it seems to be the only way I get to hear about what you're up to on a regular basis I'm quite glad you're blogging. So it's not pointless to me.

Aaw! Thanks. I'm glad someone reads it. :-) I don't think anyone's learning Japanese though. Shame on You! How are you going to cope when you visit me in Japan?

Yes, I agree with Jonny, what would I do without your blog?! It's an easy way for me to keep up with you. Maybe I should jump on this bandwagon, though Lord knows I waste enough of my time on the Internet as is.

(And please, Jonny, don't get me started on how some bloggers are destroying journalistic integrity...)

Since I am on such a roll with these comments, I'll add one more before I retire for the night.

(For those of you who aren't grammarians like me and Steph, you can stop reading. This is, after all, the extension of a private conversation. Or you can keep reading, and you'll find a good excuse to mock us behind our backs. Go ahead, see if I care.)

According to the Associated Press stylebook, you persuade somebody to act but convince somebody that something is true. So "persuade" and "convince" are not interchangeable. "Persuade" goes with "to" and "convince" goes with "that" or "of."

E.g., "Christina persuaded Steph not to go to Nevada," but "Christina convinced Steph that Nevada is a big waste of space on the map."

If you are still reading this (i.e., your eyes haven't glazed over) and your name is not Steph, I'm impressed.

Nevada's in the desert! Oh what happy memories of our first meeting! [giggles]

First meeting? Lol, I remember ... "Uh, who is that dumb American at the bottom of Simpson's picture?" Good times, good times...
